On Wednesday the Penguins launched a service that sends desktop alerts to fans as soon as Penguins news breaks. The service, called PensDirect, sends Penguins content and links directly to the user’s desktop.
The PensDirect player is smaller than an average media player and lives in the system tray as a small Penguins logo. When news breaks, a small window pops up with a summary of information and links to the full story. PensDirect subscribers will get a first look at stories and features before the general web public. PensDirect also includes interactive polls, exclusive content, stock quotes, games, and weather reports.
